Hand-woven alpaca wool blanket, 2015

The structures in the blanket are a combination of multiple double-weaves, which create a three-dimensional and soft feel. The blanket is made with different alpaca and wool wefts.

REPOSET (in Eng. foxies) wool blanket is a fresh interpretation of a vivid pattern found in the national dress of Antrea in Carelia. This bold and graphic version with foxes reinterprets the traditional form of Finnish raanu (a style of tapestry used also as a blanket) through three-dimensional colour study. The blanket is hand-woven with tc-2 jacquard machine.
The blanket was made for Protoshop in 2015, which is an annual exhibition presenting jury-selected prototypes and new product ideas in Habitare Design Fair during Helsinki Design week. Protoshop is a platform for young talents to meet companies and end-users and test how their designs are perceived by the public.
The yarns, soft alpaca and different wools, were kindly provided by Tekstiiliteollisuus Oy.
